Vietnamese, Lao, Cambodian troops join first joint SAR exercise
PANO - The first-ever Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia joint search and rescue (SAR) exercise took place on September 15 in Naxaythong district, Lao capital of Vientiane.
Witnessing the drill were General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, and Defense Ministers of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia General Phan Van Giang, General Chansamone Chanyalath who is also Lao Deputy Prime Minister, and General Tea Banh who is also Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister.
This was the first joint exercise implemented according to the agreement reached at the meeting of the three countries’ defense ministers in Hanoi in 2019.
During the exercise, nearly 500 officers and soldiers of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia performed their duties in different areas facing flooding, landslides, building collapses and leak of toxic chemicals.
Through this joint exercise, the SAR forces of the militaries of the three countries are expected to actively coordinate and support each other during actual disasters, contributing to ensuring safety for local people and enhancing their bond and mutual support in dealing with natural disasters.
The People’s Army Newspaper Online would like to introduce photos of the joint SAR exercise of the militaries of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
