Vietnamese community in Switzerland supports flood-affected people
PANO – In response to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to Geneva, Switzerland, has mobilized associations and the Vietnamese community in Geneva and neighboring cantons to donate in support of people in Central and Central Highlands provinces severely affected by floods and natural disasters in November.
As of November 27, the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to Geneva had received donations from the overseas Vietnamese community totaling 6,150 Swiss Francs, 1,600 Euros, and 400 USD. The Mission will transfer the entire amount to the Central Relief Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee.

Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and other agencies, seeking urgent assistance to help Vietnam overcome the consequences of the floods.
The IFRC reported that it had activated its emergency assistance mechanism; WHO confirmed that it would disburse resources from its Contingency Fund for Emergencies to support life-saving and health-protection activities; and WMO stated that it is conducting on-site assessments to provide support to Vietnam.
