This annual activity reflects the deep affection and attention of the city’s Party organization, authorities, and people for the overseas Vietnamese community. Through the program, overseas Vietnamese are informed about the Party’s guidelines and the State’s laws and policies, the city’s outstanding achievements over the past year, and its socio-economic development orientations for 2026 and the years ahead.

At the gathering, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Duoc welcomed and thanked overseas Vietnamese for returning to the city. He noted that 2025 marked a historic milestone as Ho Chi Minh City merged with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau. This merger created Vietnam’s largest urban–industrial–seaport region, driving strong growth momentum.

In 2025, remittances to the city exceeded USD 10.34 billion, up 8.3 percent year-on-year, reflecting confidence in the local investment climate. Nguyen Van Duoc credited these achievements to the overseas Vietnamese community, which totals six million people globally, including 2.8 million connected to the city. Their contributions span investment, knowledge transfer, and social welfare. Currently, the city is implementing measures to maximize remittance resources through 2030 while improving institutions to protect investors' rights.

In the cozy atmosphere of the gathering, representatives of overseas Vietnamese shared many heartfelt and practical ideas, notably introducing various models, projects, and programs for cooperation, investment, and international connectivity, contributing to the building and development of Ho Chi Minh City in the new phase.

On this occasion, the city’s leaders acknowledged and commended the contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community. The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee awarded certificates of merit to overseas Vietnamese collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in work related to overseas Vietnamese affairs in the city.
