Vietnam leaves impression at multicultural festival in German city
An event promoting Vietnam’s culture and tourism was recently held at a multicultural festival in Augsburg in Germany’s Bavaria state.
It was jointly organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Frankfurt and Huong Viet magazine of Vietnamese people in Germany.
In his opening speech, Consul General Le Quang Long said the event offers chances for members of the Vietnamese community in Germany’s south western region to meet and connect with international friends, and promote Vietnam’s images as an attractive, safe and friendly destination.
Vietnam’s tourism products, cuisine and national maps featuring Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos were introduced at the event. The country’s folk dances were also a draw to visitors.
During his working trip to Augsburg, Long met with the city's third honorary mayor Bernd Kränzle, who spoke highly of the role of the Vietnamese community in the German city in fostering exchanges and mutual understanding between people of Germany and Vietnam.
He stated that Augsburg and Vietnamese localities can enhance cooperation in nurse training via partnership with the University Hospital Augsburg, pledging to support the Vietnamese Consulate General to seek partners.
Launched in 2009, the Huong Viet magazine has served as a bridge linking the Vietnamese community in Germany and compatriots at home and arranged events to promote the country’s culture and people to German and international friends.
