Although there is no confirmation of the victims’ identities and nationalities, Ambassador Ward expressed his deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims. He said he knew that Vietnamese people, both inside the country and in the UK, are worried about their relatives.
The British Embassy and the Ministry of Public Security discussed measures through which both Governments can cooperate closely so as to facilitate the identification of the victims, the announcement said.
Earlier, British police told the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK that the process of identifying victims would take time to ensure accuracy as the investigation is going on.
Ward said Vietnam and the UK are fiends and partners of each other, and the British Embassy in Vietnam will work with competent agencies to raise public awareness of the human trafficking risks in order to prosecute the culprits and protect vulnerable people.
