Naval Region 4 plays a critical role in training and maintaining combat readiness to protect a vast maritime area of over 360,000 square kilometers, stretching from Cu Lao Xanh Island (Binh Dinh province) to Ba Kiem cape (Binh Thuan province), including the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago. This maritime area holds a strategic position of paramount importance to the nation’s economy, politics, and defense and security.
Fully aware of their responsibilities to the Party, the Fatherland, and the people, generations of officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 4 Command have, over nearly 50 years of building, fighting, and development, overcome immense hardships. They have consistently maintained combat readiness, fought victoriously, and achieved outstanding accomplishments. These efforts have significantly contributed to firmly safeguarding the sacred sovereignty of Vietnam’s sea and islands.
In recent years, the Naval Region 4 Command has seriously implemented the resolutions, directives, strategies, and policies of the Party, the State, and the guidance of the Central Military Commission, Defense Ministry in fulfilling its missions to safeguard national sea and island sovereignty.
The unit has focused on strictly maintaining readiness standards, combat-ready forces, and operational resources. It has successfully and closely coordinated with other forces to effectively address situations, ensuring no surprises or passive responses. At the same time, the unit has steadfastly protected the national sovereignty and maintained a peaceful, stable maritime environment, contributing to the country’s development.
For its outstanding achievements and victories, the Naval Region 4 Command has been honored with numerous prestigious awards by the Party, the State, and the Defense Ministry. On October 10, 2024, the President signed a decision awarding the Naval Region 4 Command the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces during the renewal period.
In his speech, General Nam emphasized that the prestigious title awarded to the Naval Region 4 Command is a recognition by the Party, the State, and the people for the unit’s particularly outstanding achievements.
He asked the Party Committee and the Command of Naval Region 4 to continue focusing on comprehensive leadership and development of the unit in the coming time; actively innovating and improving the quality of training and combat readiness; mastering modern weaponry and enhancing offshore operational capabilities; expanding and diversifying military and defense diplomacy activities; maintaining its pivotal role in building the all-people’s national defense posture and the people’s warfare strategy at sea; and strengthening and developing a strong, exemplary, and model Party organization.
