Naval center fixes troubled trawler
PANO - The Center for Logistics and Technical Services on Sinh Ton Island under Naval Fleet 129 of the Sai Gon Military Port of the Vietnam People’s Navy successfully fixed the engine of a fishing trawler on September 24.
Earlier, on September 20, while fishing in the waters of the Truong Sa archipelago, trawler BTh 98804 TS went adrift to the North of Sinh Ton Island due to engine failure.
After receiving a mayday signal, Naval Fleet 129 sent ship 741 to team up with Ship KN 475 of the Fisheries Surveillance Squad to tow the troubled trawler to the center for repair.
The center’s technical personnel checked the trawler and found a broken cooling water pump. They replaced it with a fresh water pumping support and checked the trawler’s operation before returning it to the owner.
The center also presented the trawler’s owner with a medical kit box and a national flag.
