Naval Region 3’s troops assist locals in flood recovery efforts after the circulation of Typhoon Fengshen (or Storm No.12 in Vietnam this year)

The dispatch requested all agencies and units to maintain strict duty regulations, closely follow weather developments, and deploy maximum personnel and equipment to ensure safety of barracks, warehouses, and stationed areas.

They were asked to pro-actively assist local authorities in evacuating residents to safety, repair and rebuild damaged houses, provide temporary shelters, and prepare for the incoming Storm Kalmaegi, the 13th storm to hit Vietnam this year.

The General Department of Political Affairs was tasked with directing military media agencies to promptly report on flood situations and military troops’ assistance activities. The General Departments of Logistics and Technical Services, Defense Industry, and II were requested to enhance direction, supervision and ensure adequate support in disaster response, environmental sanitation, and supply of rescue materials and equipment.

Military Regions 4 and 5 were ordered to mobilize all available forces and vehicles to coordinate with local authorities in flood response, clean-up, and repair of schools and medical establishments. The Navy and Vietnam Coast Guard were tasked with directing their affiliates to carry out safety measures and standing ready for search and rescue missions.

The Air Defense - Air Force Service and Corps 18 were asked to prepare aircraft and crews for air search and rescue operations, and transport of essential goods to isolated areas when ordered. Other units must continue coordinating with local authorities to give assistance in disaster relief efforts.
