Military academy’s youths join blood donation program
PANO – More than 1,000 cadres, Youth Union members, and youngsters from the Military Logistics Academy took part in a blood donation program jointly held by the academy, the Tien Phong (Vanguard) Newspaper, the National Committee for Traffic Safety, and Military Central Hospital 108 on January 8 in Hanoi.
Cadets of the academy join the donation program.
The event was in response to the “Red Sunday” festive day initiated by the Tien Phong Newspaper in 1996. This was the second time that the academy has ever participated in such an event. During the day, over 400 blood units were collected.
Addressing the event, Major General Le Nguyen Duong, the academy’s Deputy Commissar, highlighted the significance of the event. He urged that people, particularly youngsters, should uphold their responsibilities for the community, contributing to beautifying the virtue of Uncle Ho’s soldiers.
Over the past years, the academy’s blood donation drives have attracted the participation of cadres and youths, who annually donate over 1,000 blood units to ease the blood shortage in healthcare facilities. Last year alone, the academy in association with Hospital 108 held three blood donation drives with the participation of over 1,500 youths, collecting more than 1,000 blood units.
