Island infirmary performs appendectomy on patient
PANO - Son Ca Island Infirmary has successfully conducted a surgery on patient Nguyen Van Cuong, who suffered from an acute appendicitis.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Tho, Political Commissar of Son Ca Island, Brigade 146 of Naval Region 4, at 20:15 on October 4, Sergeant Nguyen Van Cuong, head of a 12.7mm machine gun battery of Combat Group 1, was hospitalized at the infirmary, in Truong Sa island district, Khanh Hoa province, due to acute abdominal pain in the right iliac fossa.
The patient was given an ultrasound scan and was then diagnosed as suffering from acute appendicitis.
The surgical team, led by Major Vu Tien Hoat, the infirmary’s head, promptly performed surgery on the patient for over half an hour.
Patient Cuong is no longer in a critical condition but still needs further treatment at the infirmary.
