During the event, the delegation handed over 20 gifts, worth VND 2 million each, to the policy households on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the foundation day of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944), 33rd whole people’s festive day (December 22, 1989).

On behalf of the CMC, MND, and the VPA’s General Staff leaders, Lieutenant General Nguyen Doan Anh inquired after and wished the war veterans, national contributors, and martyrs’ relatives good health. He emphasized that the Party, State, CMC, MND always take care of policy people and revolutionary contributors. In addition, the CMC, MND also make recommendations to the Party and State to issue and implement many policies for the military and the homefront.

Especially, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the foundation day of the VPA, MND and the General Staff directed units in the whole military to organize practical activities to pay gratitude to policy households and national contributors. The programs contributed to promoting the beautiful tradition of the Vietnamese people: “When drinking water, remember its source.”

The general also expressed his gratitude to the Dien Bien provincial Party Committee, authorities and local people for helping the VPA during the national resistance wars against foreign invaders as well as its cause of construction and development. He requested Military Region 2, the Dien Bien provincial Military Command to continue to implement policy work while taking care of national contributors, and war veterans, helping them develop economy, eradicate hunger and reduce poverty.

Earlier, the delegation offered incense and flowers to pay tribute to fallen soldiers at the Temple of Martyrs of Dien Bien Phu Battlefield, National War Cemetery A1.
