Cargo vessel in distress saved
PANO - The border guards of Quang Binh province safely towed a cargo vessel with 11 men on board to Hon La Port, as announced by the provincial Border Guard Command on Nov. 12.
Previously on Nov. 11, the engine room of Vessel QN 6378 from Quang Ninh province went on fire due to a short circuit. The incident happened at a place about 26 nautical miles off the Northeast of Cua Gianh (Quang Binh) while the vessel was transporting 1,700 tons of cargo from Vung Tau to Hai Phong.
After receiving the news, Senior Colonel Nguyen Van Thien, Commander of the provincial Border Guard Command directed two patrol vessels and 25 border troops to participate in the rescue mission.
Thanks to efforts of the border guards, the distressed ship and its crew-members were safely taken to Hon La Port in the late afternoon of the same day.
