Border troops save distressed fishermen at sea
PANO – The Ca Mau provincial Border Guard Command, on July 9, reported that their troops have searched for and rescued many distressed fishermen at sea.
Earlier, at 2:00 on the same day, trawler CM 91109 TS, captained by Huynh Van Vu, sank due to big wave while anchoring about two nautical miles northeast of Hon Chuoi island, with ten crewmembers.
After receiving the information, Hon Chuoi Border Post of the Ca Mau provincial Border Guard Command mobilized troops to the scene, together with other local fishermen, to implement search and rescue missions.
Accordingly, the recuse force found nine distressed fishermen and brought them ashore safely while one crew-member is still missing.
Reportedly, Hon Chuoi and Song Doc Border Posts used communication systems to call on fishermen operating in the waters near the scene to join the search.
Hon Chuoi Border Post also actively used patrol boats to search for the missing. In addition to taking care of the nine crew-members in distress, the unit also made efforts to locate and rescue the fishing boat.
On the same day, Khanh Hoi Border Post of the Ca Mau provincial Border Guard Command also sent troops to rescue other ten distressed fishermen. They were all local fishermen fishing near the shore when their trawler sank due to thunderstorms and rough sea.
