The four-day contest will see the attendance of 139 contestants from 22 army units. The contests consist of two parts: theoretical and practice tests. In the former, contestants are to show their political awareness, knowledge in labour safety, and professional expertise. For the latter, each contestant has to make a complete bench-work, cutting, milling, or welding product in a certain period of time.

The contest is a chance for responsible units to enhance their professionalism. It also serves the Central Military Commission, National Defence Ministry, General Department of Politics and other related agencies in reviewing and improving technical education and training, meeting the requirements of the development of the defence industry, contributing to the cause of national construction and safeguarding.

Senior Lieutenant General Phuong Minh Hoa required that the organizing panel of the contest strictly and objectively adhere to rules and criteria so that the contest would be a complete success.
