Lieutenant General Nguyen Duc Soat speaking at the meeting

Since 2014, VNASMA in cooperation with Party committees and authorities of localities, ministries, sectors, domestic and international organizations have carried out actively and effectively 21 activities in support of 317 victims of UXO in ten provinces and cities nationwide.

Moreover, the association has proactively given recommendations to the policy making levels on overcoming UXO consequences.

In the 2017-2020 period, the association will focus on promoting effectiveness and efficiency of its affiliates as well as continuing its call for more support for surmounting UXO consequences in Vietnam. It will also raise awareness of the danger of UXOs among locals, especially children so that they can protect themselves from UXOs.

Besides, it will deploy more effective mine action projects while calling for more support from the United Nations, foreign governments, domestic and international organizations to deal with UXOs in the country.
