PANO - The Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Navy on January 23rd was conferred with the title “Hero of the People's Armed Forces” in the American Resistance War (1954-1975) on its 56th founding anniversary in the presence of Admiral Nguyen Van Hien, Deputy Minister of National Defence cum Navy Chief.

Addressing the ceremony, Admiral Nguyen Van Hien stressed that during the war against the American imperialists, the officers and troops of the department braved all enemy’s bombs and fire to closely follow the situation in the front and promptly carry out the Party and political work and solve problems during combat. The force also encouraged troops to overcome difficulties even at the risk of their own lives to fulfill the assigned tasks.

The Admiral required the officers and troops of the department to bring into full play their heroic tradition and try their best to serve the nation, overcome difficulties and effectively advise the Navy’s party committee and chain-of-command in the implementation of the party and political work. The unit is also duty-bound to contribute to developing the Navy into a politically and ideologically strong service to firmly safeguard the national maritime sovereignty.

Authorized by the State President, Admiral Nguyen Van Hien handed over the flag and confered the title “Hero of the People's Armed Forces” in the American Resistance War on the department.
