Tet gifts reach island-stationed units
PANO - A delegation from the Naval Region 5 Command and representatives of nine Southern provinces on January 29 visited Hon Chuoi Island in Song Doc commune, Tran Van Thoi district, Ca Mau province.
This is a meaningful activity to demonstrate sentiments and deep care of mainland people for troops and people stationed off-shore and bring the cozy and joyful Tet atmosphere to officers and soldiers on the island.

At the event, Captain Bui Huu Nghia, the head of Radar Station 615, Battalion 551, Naval Region 5 briefed the delegation on the unit's outstanding results in the implementation of key political tasks in 2017.
The delegation presented Tet gifts to Radar Station 615, Border Post 704, lighthouse station, self-governing groups for security and order on the island and asked the troops and islanders to continue their efforts in fulfilling all assigned tasks for 2018.
On behalf of the delegation, Senior Colonel Nguyen Binh Long, Political Commissar of Binh Duong provincial Military Command, highly appreciated the solidarity between the troops and people on the island and also voiced that he would make efforts to promote resources of Vietnamese Naval forces as well as improve living standards of troops and people on islands.
Earlier, the delegation visited and presented Tet gifts to troops and islanders on Hon Doc Island (Tien Hai commune, Ha Tien town) and Hon Tron Island (An Son commune, Kien Hai district) in Kien Giang province.
As scheduled, the delegation will next visit Hon Khoai Island (Ngoc Hien commune, Ca Mau province).
