Tho Chu is a big group of islands including 8 small islets with a total area of 14 sq.km and more than 500 households with over 2,000 inhabitants.

The delegation presented Tet gifts to support officers and soldiers on the island to enjoy the Tet (Lunar New Year) Festival in 2018.

According to Colonel Vu Van Trung, Political Commissar of Regiment 152, Tho Chu is located near international maritime routes and is on an important shipping route. Carrying out training and combat readiness missions, the unit has cooperated with other forces on the islands to defend national sovereignty over the seas and islands. Overcoming difficulties, the unit has completed all assigned tasks in 2017, especially the live-fire exercise for its troops.

On behalf of officers and soldiers of the units on the islands, Lieutenant Nguyen Nhu Quy, political commissar of Radar Station 610, thanked the delegation for bringing the early Tet holiday to troops and islanders. This is a meaningful activity to encourage troops of the units to fulfill all tasks, defending national sovereignty over Southwestern islands.

Earlier, the delegation visited and extended Tet gifts to troops and people on the islands of Phu Quoc, Nam Du, Hon Doc, Hon Chuoi and Hon Khoai.
