Over the past time, border guard units in Southern Vietnam have actively and comprehensively carried out Party and political work with close attachment to their military missions.
Accordingly, they have seriously organized a number of political activities, boosted political and ideological education, and legal information dissemination for troops. Besides, the coordination between the Party Committee of the Border Guard and Party Committees of localities and between border posts and border communes and wards has been proven to be effective.
As a result, border guard units could closely follow situational developments in the locality, well performed mass mobilization work, border external affairs and people-to-people exchange with its counterparts on the other side of the borderline.
They seriously observed combat readiness regulations, well implemented border-related affairs and maintained political security, social order and safety in border and coastal areas.
Regarding its social support activities, they conducted efficiently such programs as “Breeding cattle for the poor in border areas,” “Helping students in schooling,” “Support for women in border areas,” “Let’s clean up the sea” and more.
Addressing the meeting, General Nghia highly valued outstanding achievements gained by the border guard units in the South, especially in Party and political work, border affairs, combat readiness posture, and force-building.
The Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics asked these units to boost political education and improve troops’ professionalism in all aspects to meet the task requirements in the current period while promoting the quality of building whole people’s border guard disposition in their designated border and coastal areas, contributing to local sustainable socio-economic development while striving to implement well their central political tasks and obtain more achievements to celebrate the 60th foundation day of the border force.
