Speaking at the event, the State President expressed deep gratitude to war veterans who once took part in Dien Bien Phu Campaign. He affirmed that Dien Bien Phu Victory was the victory of the Vietnamese people’s patriotism, iron will, and indomitable spirit nurtured for thousands of years of history.

Bearing in mind the contribution and sacrifices of former generations for national independence and freedom, Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Front committees, organizations, agencies, units, and benefactors have actively conducted various practical gratitude activities to take care of martyrs’ families, wounded soldiers, and those who rendered good service to the nation. 

At the meeting, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the visiting delegation inquired after war veterans’ health and expressed their deep gratitude to veteran revolutionaries, war veterans, voluntary youths, conscripted laborers, wounded soldiers, fallen soldiers’ relatives and families whose members contributed to Dien Bien Phu Victory.

The State leader asked local Party committees, authorities, and people of ethnic minority groups in Dien Bien to take more care of those with great contribution to national liberation, construction, and defense cause through practical activities. 

On behalf of the Party Organization and people of Dien Bien province, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Thang promised to continue taking care of martyrs’ families, wounded soldiers, and national contributors. He said that the province will bring into play the glorious revolutionary tradition of the province and try its utmost to build a developed Dien Bien.

At the event, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Defense Minister Phan Van Giang, and leaders of Hanoi, Dien Bien province, and Military Region 2 presented gifts to 60 war veterans who are former Dien Bien soldiers.

Earlier, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the visiting delegation offered incense in commemoration of fallen soldiers at A1 National Martyrs’ Cemetery and visited Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum.
