PANO - The People’s Army Newspaper (PAN) on April 30th held a get-together for veterans and families of Dien Bien soldiers who worked for the PAN, as part of activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
At the meeting, participants recalled brave days 60 years ago with a focus on the birth of the front People’s Army Newspaper.

The PAN’s Editor-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Le Phuc Nguyen, expressed his admiration for generations of soldier-journalists, especially those involving in the release of 33 editions of PAN right on the fierce battlefield in Dien Bien Phu in the 1953-1954 period.
Emphasizing that behind each article and each page was the sweat, efforts and even tears and blood of journalists and other newspaper’s staff on the front, Lieutenant General Le Phuc Nguyen affirmed that making 33 editions on the front was an extraordinary exploit that had been made by tempered people with special virtue.
Apart from recalling hard but proud days releasing those special issues, the participants expressed their pleasure to witness the PAN’s development and hoped that the PAN’s staff would continuously bring into play the newspaper’s special tradition and do their utmost to have more interesting articles with high quality to lure more readers.
Also at the meeting, the PAN’s Editor-in-Chief promised to complete a book and a film recording memoirs of the soldiers-journalists on the Dien Bien Phu front. The works will be a gratitude gift to war reporters and a useful reference for younger generations of journalists.
