At the working session, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc was briefed on the task accomplishment of agencies and units under the ministry in the first nine months of 2016 as well as the direction for the implementation of military-defense missions in the last quarter of the year. What is more, the defense forces have always been exercising their active role in protecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Party committees and chains-of-command of military units at all levels have firmly preserved solidarity and strictly followed the Party’s leadership principles while always holding a high sense of responsibility and making efforts in implementing tasks, ready to undertake any missions under any circumstances.

On behalf of the Party, State and Government, the PM spoke highly of the mission accomplishment of all officers, soldiers and workers of the ministry, stressing that the ministry should better practice its advisory role to the Party and State in crafting military-defense plans and play the core role in the safeguarding of the nation, especially in the current complex domestic and international situations.

Additionally, defense forces should be active in carrying out missions of search and rescue as well as natural disaster prevention and mitigation while joining the combat against trade fraud and other crimes and the fight against information warfare conducted hostile forces. Army units should also uphold their noble virtues of the Uncle Ho’s soldiers when carrying out tasks in general and in doing economic activities in particular.

To fulfill the national defense mission in the current period, the PM required the MND to especially underscore its missions of monitoring, studying and forecasting the situation so as to devise timely responsive solutions as well as advise the Party and State to craft appropriate policies.

More attention should be laid on the political education for cadres and troops in the whole army so that they hold firm political stance, be absolutely loyal to the leadership of the Party and management of the State. The MND should focus efforts on the direction of the tasks of training, combat readiness, science and technology application, and more.

The PM also emphasized the importance of the defense relations work as Vietnam is in its vigorous international integration. The army should be the vanguard in the combat against the “peaceful evolution” and other plots of hostile forces. The PM called on other ministries and sectors to provide favorable conditions for the MND to better fulfill its tasks in the new period.

On behalf of the MND, Defense Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich thanked the PM for his care for the ministry and promised to strictly follow the PM’s instructions.
