PANO - The General Department of Politics, under the National Defence Ministry, held a ceremony in Hanoi to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26th), and honour outstanding individuals and groups of Army Youth Unions.

Established in 1952, Youth Unions in the Army have grown strongly and made huge contributions to the cause of construction and development of the Army. So far, around 1,000 heroes of the people’s armed forces in Army Youth Unions have been honoured, and more than 1 million outstanding Youth Union members have been admitted to the Party.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Phung Quang Thanh, Politburo member and National Defence Minister, highly praised achievements of Youth Unions in the Army over the past years.

“There are always outstanding individuals and groups of Army Youth Unions in many places and in many fields,” said the Defence Minister.

The General also asked the Army Youth Unions to improve education and training to accomplish all tasks in the coming years.

At the meeting, outstanding individuals and groups of Army Youth Unions were awarded Certificates of Merit and prizes by the Defence Ministry and the General Department of Politics.

On the occasion, many other activities such as a photo exhibition and an art exchange will be held by army units.
