PANO - Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy Minister of National Defence chaired a video conference reviewing last year’s judicial, inspective and legal work and setting out missions for this year.

Addressing the conference with the participation of more than 500 delegates, General Cung spoke highly of the active contributions of the sectors of justice, inspection and laws in giving consulting to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence on perfecting the legal system on military and defence.

He laid stress on the work of inspection, prosecution, trial and enforcement on the basis of the laws, contributing to the improved efficiency in criminal control and prevention of legal violation.

The general said that the inspection work with focused contents was promoted at all levels and commended the border guards and marine police for their active coordination with relevant organs to effectively prevent crimes and legal violations at sea, on islands and border areas.

Together with the strength, the Deputy Defence Minister also pointed out some shortcomings to be corrected.  

For tasks in 2014, he asked the sectors of justice, inspection and laws to improve the quality of compiling, issuing and enforcing legal documents, the competence of the sectors’ staff to meet judiciary reform targets and the work of legal education in the whole army.
