Present at the event were General Ngo Xuan Lich, Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security; and other high-ranking leaders of the two ministries.
Delivering the opening speech, General Lam underlined the task performance of the People’s Police Force over the past years, particularly in making recommendations to the Party and State to issue strategic guidelines, promptly preventing plots of hostile forces, effectively combating crimes and maintaining social order and security, and well conducting political and Party work.
Especially this year, the ministry successfully mobilized forces and vehicles to ensure security during the APEC 2017 Year, including the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, he added.
The Minister of Public Security held that to gain these achievements, besides their own efforts, the people’s police force received considerable assistance and close coordination from other ministries and localities, especially the Ministry of National Defense.
On this occasion, General Lam extended greetings to the Ministry of National Defense on occasion of the 73rd founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 28th Whole People's Defense Festive Day.
Addressing the event, General Lich, on behalf of leaders the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, thanked the Ministry of Public Security for holding the meeting and congratulated the People’s Police Force on their achievements as well.
The Minister of National Defense affirmed that both sides have increasingly worked together in sharing information and experience, promoting education and training quality, holding exercises, addressing security challenges emerged in strategic localities, and rolling out plans to ensure security in the country’s major events, including the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week. Their cooperation has contributed to the political stability and the socio-economic development of the country.
General Lich also briefed the participants of task performance of the Vietnam People’s Army over the past time and added that the whole army units have received great support from ministries and localities, especially the Ministry of Public Security.
The Vietnam People’s Army and the People’s Police Force will continue to further expand their cooperation in the time to come in order to fulfill all missions assigned by the Party, State and people, he concluded.
Additionally, General Lich handed over the insignia “For the cause of building the Vietnam People’s Army” to the Minister and Deputy Ministers of the Ministry of Public Security.
