Military launches specialized training course on search and rescue
PANO – The Department of Search and Rescue (SAR) of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army launched a specialized training course for units in the whole military on March 5.
Present at the event were Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Permanent Chairman of the Standing Office for the National Committee for Search and Rescue, and Lieutenant General Ngo Quy Duc, Head of the SAR Department.

During the three-day course, 230 SAR trainees from various military units will be provided with specialized topics, such as instruction on implementing higher levels’ resolutions on civil defensive and payment for rescue forces according to the directive of the Ministry of Finance, the demonstration of pilot plans in response to disasters and rescue, the procedures for SAR missions, to name but a few.
Speaking at the event, General Minh asked the Naval Service to ensure adequate facilities and equipment to make the course a success. He also required the trainers to make concrete preparations and trainees to follow the course’ regulations so as to obtain good results in their study.
