At the conference, Major General Nguyen Xuan Kien, Head of the Department of Military Medicine under the General Department of Logistics, held that the pandemic has spread in 26 provinces and cities nationwide with an increasing number of infection cases. However, thanks to the collboration and contribution of all sectors and forces, especially the military, the pandemic has been basically under control, he noted.
Reviewing the disease prevention and control in the military recently, Lt. Gen. Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Head of the Defense Ministry’s Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, stressed that all units have always followed higher levels’ instructions, strictly implemented the 5K regulations: Khau trang (facemask) - (Khu khuan) disinfection - (Khoang cach) distance - (Khong tu tap) no gathering - (Khai bao y te) health declaration, issued by the Ministry of Health.
The border guards closely collaborated with relevant forces to enhance border patrol and prevent people from illegal entry into the country while the chemical troops help disinfect the pandemic-hit areas.

Speaking at event, Sen. Lt. Gen. Do Can, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics and Deputy Head of the Defense Ministry’s Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, spoke highly of the information dissemination in raising people’s and troops’ awareness and responsibility to fight the pandemic.
He urged the Party committees and chains of command at all levels to continue enhancing information dissemination for troops and well implement the pandemic prevention and control’s regulations, especially during the upcoming national elections.
Having listened to all reports at the meeting, Lt. Gen. Vu Hai San reaffirmed that the military will always be the leading force in the COVID-19 fight.
He asked all units to comprehensively implement the COVID-19 preventive measures as issued by the Government and the Ministry of National Defense. Also, he required the units to build concrete plans to ensure safety for the NA and People’s Council election and adjust their training programs in close line with the real situations.
