Military, defense achievements to be highlighted

PANO – A defense ministerial-level scientific seminar to review achievements and identify shortcomings in 30-year renovation process as well as the results in carrying out military and defense missions in the national construction and defense cause is scheduled to take place on December 16th in Hanoi.

The seminar

The event, to be organized by the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, will reaffirm the leadership and instruction of the Communist Party of Vietnam as a decisive factor for the success of the country’s Doi moi (Renewal) process. Participants will also highlight the absolute and direct leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam over the Vietnam People’s Army and contribute useful experiences to the present revolutionary cause.

Under the theme “30 Years of Military and Defense Renovation - Achievements and Experiences (1986-2016)”, the seminar gathers leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, General Departments of Politics and Logistics, General Staff, military regions, services, army corps, military academies and scholars from centers and institutes of history nationwide.

Addressing the press meeting on December 13^th in Hanoi, Major General Nguyen Phuong Dien, Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Training under the General Department of Politics highlighted the importance of the seminar in building the army to meet the requirements of national construction and defense mission in the new context. The deputy director also asked press agencies to well cover the seminar, considering it a contribution to building a revolutionary, regular, elite and gradually-modernized army.
