According to reports delivered at the event, in the first six months, under the direction of the General Staff, the whole military well completed regular and unexpected military and defense missions; strictly maintained combat readiness; closely followed situational developments and suggested the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense give recommendations to the Party and State to issue suitable guidelines and policies to effectively handle circumstances, contributing to firmly safeguarding the national sovereignty and security.

In the first half, together with thoroughly grasping and strictly carrying out resolutions and directives, the whole military well observed combat readiness; managed the air, sea, border areas, the mainland, cyberspace; firmly protected the national sovereignty; strictly maintained guard duties at all levels; mobilized forces and vehicles to participate in natural disaster response and search and rescue missions safely and effectively.
Speaking at the event, Gen. Cuong praised agencies and units in the whole military for their obtained outcomes and asked them to thoroughly study and strictly realize the spirit of “Five determination’s, five pro-activeness’s” as directed by the Party General Secretary and Secretary of the Central Military Commission Nguyen Phu Trong, effectively implement 16 key missions in the 2021-2026 period, and Defense Minister’s conclusion at the recent Politico-Military Conference.
The whole military should focus on enhancing the ability of studying, forecasting, evaluating, and following situational developments to give strategic advice to the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense to issue guidelines and policies to flexibly handle circumstances in a timely manner.
Agencies and units were requested to strictly observe combat readiness, follow and well manage the air, sea, border areas, the mainland, cyberspace, and key areas; firmly protect the national sovereignty; cooperate with other forces to protect political security and public order in the whole country and at important political events of the nation and military.
They were urged to enhance patrol and monitoring activities in sea border areas; deter foreign vessels from violating and encroaching upon Vietnam’s waters; strengthen dissemination to prevent Vietnamese fishing vessels from conducting illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing in foreign waters.
The Chief of the General Staff also requested the whole military to make breakthroughs in training; enhance night training, mobile training, and intensive training in all conditions, raise troops’ abilities of mastering weapons, including new ones; safely hold competitions and exercises.
