PANO - Lieutenant-General Nguyen Thanh Cung, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy-Head of the General Department of Politics, on May 17th, paid a working visit to Cuu Long Corps to check its preparations for elections of deputies of the 13th National Assembly and the People’s Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 tenure.

At the reception, Major-General Nguyen Trong Nghia, the Corps’ Political Commissar, revealed that there were 13 polling stations at the Corps, while other voters from the Corps will cast their ballots at the polls in provinces of Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Can Tho and Gia Lai.

The Corps had organised six dialogues and Q&A meetings with candidates for the 13th National Assembly and the People’s Councils at all levels.

The same day, General Cung checked election preparations at the Corps’ Military School and Infantry Unit 9. There, the General asked officers and relevant sectors to see elections as one of the main mission goals in 2011. Besides, they would promote their propaganda and inspection task to ensure security and safety for the Election Day and the highest turn-out at elections.

Also on May 17th, General Cung presented a copper bust of President Ho Chi Minh, designed by Colonel Minh Dinh, a sculptor, to the Administration of Southern Revolutionary Historical Relic Sites. The bust, with the dimensions of 108x95x50cm, would help educate the historical traditions and make the image of Uncle Ho ever-bright among Southern citizens.
