On behalf of the Emulation and Commendation Council of the Ministry of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army reviewed the “Determined to win” emulation movement in 2016 and launched the movement for next year.
At the conference, delegates were briefed on the results of the emulation and commendation and the “Determined to win” movement this year. Accordingly, emulation drives were comprehensively implemented in line with the "patriotic emulation" drive and other movements at all levels and by all sectors and the masses; becoming a strong driving force for the whole army to fulfill their assigned missions; contributing to improving their combat readiness and to building pure and strong Party organizations.

The “Determined to Win" emulation drive next year, themed “Efficiency – Discipline – Determination to win” aims to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement instructions and resolutions of the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense, Resolution No.5 of the Politburo on promoting the campaign “Learning and following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example,” and the campaign “Promoting traditions, devoting talents, deserving to be Uncle Ho’s soldiers.”
Addressing the conference, Major General Tran Hoai Trung, Head of the Department of Information and Training announced commendation decisions of this year. The Emulation and Commendation Council of the Ministry of National Defense proposed the Government and the Ministry of National Defense to present emulation flags to 50 groups and 206 outstanding groups in 2016, respectively.
Concluding the conference, Minister of National Defense, General Ngo Xuan Lich also underscored key missions for the whole Army in 2017 and affirmed that the day-long conference heard a number of constructive opinions and ideas, including 15 reports from delegates who were unanimously agreed on the assessments by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on defense and military activities this year and defense and military directions and missions next year.
The Defense Minister further said the whole army completed all assigned missions, effectively carried out Party-political and defense relations work in 2016 and asked all army units to learn from experience and overcome weaknesses and limitations. Emphasizing missions in 2017, Gen. Lich added that the Army should provide timely and effective recommendations to the Party and State on defense and military work, continuously implement border patrol projects while ensuring training safety for armed forces and carrying out defense relations work, including the fourth Vietnam-China friendship defense border exchange and the first Vietnam-Cambodia border exchange.
