PANO – Defense Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich and a high-ranking defense delegation, including Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Pham Hong Huong; Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, Major General Le Hien Van; and other representatives of agencies of the National Defense Ministry, paid a working visit to Military Zone 3, on September 14.

On behalf of the Military Zone 3 Party Committee and Command, Major General Vu Hai San briefed the Defense Minister and his entourage on the outcomes of the zone’s implementation of the defense and military tasks over the first nine months of 2016.

Since the beginning of 2016, the zone’s military forces have collaborated closely with the local police, border guard force, navy and coast guard force in grasping the situation of its designated airspace, border, islands and sea and well handling developments and issues. At the same time, the zone's command instructed its affiliate units to maintain combat readiness, and deployed forces to ensure political security and social order and safety on anniversaries and important national events like the 12th National party Congress and election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and 2016-2020 people’s councils at all levels.
Addressing the meeting, General Lich hailed the zone’s achievements and highly valued its armed forces’ endeavors in the implementation of its defense and military tasks over the past time.
For its future task implementation, the defense minister asked the zone's Party Committee and Command to quickly make good of its shortcomings, revise combat plans in accordance with the current situation, well maintain combat readiness across units, grasp the situations of its designated airspace, border areas, islands, sea and cities and provinces. Units under the zone’s command should also coordinate closely with other forces to ensure political security, social order and safety, and actively handle emerging issues.
The zone’s Party Committee and Command should direct its affiliate agencies and units to thoroughly study and grasp resolutions and instructions of the Party, State, Central Military Commission and National Defense Ministry on the strategy for the Fatherland protection in the current situation as well as defense and military tasks. They should actively improve the quality of training for all kinds of armed forces while absolutely ensuring safety in training and exercises. The chains of command should also pay due attention to logistics and ensure sufficient logistics and weapons and equipment in a technically good condition for combat readiness, training and other missions.

General Lich also paying a working visit to Regiment 679 of the Naval Zone 1 Command

In the afternoon, the defense minister and the high-ranking defense delegation took a fact-finding tour to Regiment 679 of the Naval Zone 1 Command, checking the outcomes of training and combat readiness.
After the inspection, General Lich asked the unit to continuously improve the quality of training, combat readiness and to grasp the technical features, combat functions and capacity of military weapons and equipment, especially new and modern ones.
The leadership of the unit should focus on force management, the execution of military disciplines and regulations, and the building of a regular and strong unit as well as draw up good solutions to augment abilities of commanders at all levels to draw up plans, manage forces and conduct training and exercises.
