Defense leaders inspect border guard unit
PANO - A delegation from the Ministry of National Defense (MND), led by Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, visited and inspected the Border Guard Command of Gia Lai province on May 28.
Praising the unit for its achievements over the past year and in the first months of this year, General Cuong stressed that the situation in the border areas of Gia Lai province remained complicated; therefore, commanders and troops of the provincial Border Guard Command should closely follow and deal with any arising issues in a timely manner.

He asked the unit to continue to thoroughly grasp the resolutions of the Party, the National Assembly, and the Central Military Commission. He also urged it to closely coordinate with other forces to effectively carry out military and defense missions and firmly safeguard border security and sovereignty.
The unit should improve the quality of training, professional skills and foreign languages for troops; promote law dissemination to ethnic minority people in border areas, and prevent crime, smuggling and trade fraud.
The same day, the delegation and the steering committee for a scientific conference themed "Victory of the Central Highlands Operation starts the General Offensive and Uprising of Spring 1975" offered incense and flowers in tribute to heroic martyrs at the War Cemetery of Gia Lai province, and presented gifts to national contributors in Pleiku city.
