In Binh Phuoc province, Defense Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich congratulated the provincial Party Committee, authorities and people on the achievements recorded in socio-economic development and defense-security consolidation over the past year.

General Lich gave a briefing on the military’s outstanding outcomes last year and thanked the local Party Committee, authorities and people for their effective coordination with and creation of favorable conditions for the military units stationed in the locality and the local armed forces to fulfill their assignments.

He hoped that the locality will further promote their accomplishments, uphold political stability, expand cooperation and contribute to building a borderline of peace and friendship.

During a pre-Tet visit to Army Corps 16, the Defense Minister acknowledged the unit’s staff’s task performance, especially the defense-economic combined mission, social welfare development, building the people’s heart disposition in border areas and building key areas.

The defense leader spoke highly of the corps’ defense relations, care for the lives of the local people, especially those from ethnic minority groups.

General Lich asked the corps to give its all-out efforts to complete all assigned missions while boosting the close ties with local authorities and people and building a contingent of competent and responsible cadres and Party members.

In Army Corps 4, General Lich noted that as a regular unit of the Defense Ministry stationed in a strategic locality, the corps should be active in implementing the assignments outstandingly. The corps was asked to maintain patrols, combat readiness duties to ensure absolute safety during Tet festival while conducting meaningful activities for policy beneficiaries and national contributors and ensuring a happy Tet for troops. The unit should continue improving integrated strength and heighten revolutionary vigilance to foil all hostile forces’ acts of sabotage.

On the threshold of the Tet festival, General Lich presented Tet gifts to units and localities, gave 140 presents to heroic Vietnamese mothers, policy families and other needy people in Binh Phuoc province and the economic-defense project area of Army Corps 16.

* A mission from the central agencies and Defense Ministry, led by Nguyen Hoa Binh, a member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court, paid a pre-Tet visit to Military Region 9 Command and troops and islanders in Tho Chau island commune, Phu Quoc island district, Kien Giang province.

Binh congratulated the military region on their achievements last year and wished the troops a happy, safe and economical Tet and reminded them to raise a high sense of combat readiness and actively deal with any circumstances that might arise.

In Tho Chau island district, the mission extended Tet greetings to troops and islanders and presented Tet gifts to local needy people.

* During meetings with the Border Guard and Military Commands of Son La province, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics (GDP) asked them to closely follow local situational developments, observe combat readiness regulations, ensure a happy Tet for local people and troops, especially those stationed in disadvantaged areas. General Nghia later handed over the gifts from the Central Military Commission and Defense Ministry to the two units’ troops.

General Nghia also extended Tet wishes to all troops at Signal Brigade 139 of the Signal Corps.

* Highly valuing the good outcomes of affiliated units under the GDP in the South, Senior Lieutenant General Do Can, the GDP Deputy Director, asked them to take comprehensive measures to accomplish all assignments, especially combat readiness duties and preparations for Party congresses. The units should organize a happy, safe and economical Tet festival for troops while teaming up with local relevant forces to maintain political security, social order and safety and take care of local national contributors and others in need.
