Conference on overcoming war-left UXO consequences held
PANO - The National Steering Committee on Settlement of Consequences of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) and Toxic Chemicals in Vietnam under the Ministry of National Defense on December 25 in Hanoi held a conference on policy and solutions for the settlement of post-war bombs, mines and toxic chemicals in Vietnam.
The event saw the participation of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Defense Minister and permanent member of the National Steering Committee; Vo Tuan Nhan, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment; and representatives from other sectors and ministries.
During the conference, delegates reviewed information and achievements on overcoming the aftermath of wartime UXOs in the country over the past time.
General Vinh said that in the coming time, all relevant agencies and units should focus on raising the public’s awareness of the work as well as the capacities of functional forces.
