Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, Commander-in-chief of the armed forces and Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, handed over the promotion decision to the official in a ceremony held on October 20 at the Presidential Palace.
Another official getting rank promoted to General was Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang. Deputy Chief of the General Staff Nguyen Doan Anh was promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General from Lieutenant General.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, top leader To Lam congratulated comrades Luong Tam Quang, Nguyen Tan Cuong, and Nguyen Doan Anh on their rank promotion.
He emphasized that the rank promotion demonstrated the Party, State, and people’s trust in and deep care for the armed forces as well as their recognition and high appreciation for the newly-promoted officials’ important contribution to the military and public security force building and development.
