Addressing the event, President Vo Van Thuong praised Gen. Nghia for his great efforts over the past time. The state leader also highlighted the senior officer’s competence and outstanding achievements during his military career, contributing to the military building and national defense consolidation. 

He asked the newly-promoted officer to continue improving the mettle of a Party member and a military general, stay absolutely loyal to the Party, State, and people, and study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings on a general’s duties.

The state leader also urged Gen. Nghia to further promote the spirit of solidarity and unity within the General Staff to lead and direct an effective implementation of the Party's guideline and the State's policies and laws on military and national defense tasks, meeting the requirements of building a revolutionary, standardized, elite, and gradually-modernized People's Army.

He also requested Gen. Nghia to contribute to improving the quality of the strategic advisory work and the military’s synergy and combat readiness capability.

He expressed his belief that Gen. Nghia will continue to excellently fulfill his assigned missions.

In his speech, Gen. Nghia confirmed to seriously and effectively carry out assignments, further practice, promote Uncle Ho’s soldiers’ virtues and the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People’s Army, and complete all assigned duties.

Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Nghia was born in Van Trung commune, Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province. Before 2013, he was the commanding officer of Division 325 of Army Corps 2. In 2013, he was appointed as Second-in-Command, Chief of Staff of Army Corps 2. In 2015, he became the Commander of Army Corps 2 and promoted to the rank of Major General. He later held different positions as Second-in-Command and Chief of Staff of Military Region 2 and Director of the Department of Military Forces under the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army. From January 2020 to now, he is Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.
