The event saw the participation of Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and representatives of agencies, units under the General Staff and some general departments.

Reports also pointed out that, during the Tet holidays, all units in the whole army are well doing combat readiness duties and closely following developments of the situations in their designated airspaces, seas, land and borderlines. The Navy, the Air Defense and Air Force Service, the Border Guard have maintained active duties to ready handle unexpected situations effectively and on time.

During the night of January 1, 2018 of the lunar calendar, units and localities well organized fireworks across the country. Military units in localities also held programs to organize this Tet for troops in a safe, joyful, healthy and economical manner.

Gen. Giang praised the agencies and units' achievements in recent days and required them to strictly maintain combat readiness while creating favorable conditions for troops to enjoy this Tet holiday at barracks or visit their families. On the teleconferencing system, the Chief-of-the-General Staff talked with troops in Nam Yet island and extended Tet wishes to soldiers and their relatives.

The same day, Gen. Giang offered incense at the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and delivered Tet greetings to troops of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Command.
