The Border Guard Academy under the Border Guard High Command has been conferred with the Military Exploit Order, First Class for its great contributions to the country’s revolutionary cause.

President Truong Tan Sang himself pinned the Order on the academy’s flag at a ceremony on May 16, which also marked the academy’s 50th founding anniversary.

The President hailed the efforts and contributions made by the academy’s lecturers and officers over the past 50 years.

He said the academy, as the training and research centre of the border guard force, has a great duty, which is together with the whole Party, people and armed forces to unceasingly strengthen national defence and security, especially in the context of complicated developments in the region and the world.

Since its establishment, the training facility, whose forerunner is the People’s Armed Police Officers School, has trained nearly 24,000 cadres and officers.

The academy also helps train military personnel for Laos and Cambodia.
