No surrender despite facing many difficulties
The Vietnamese team joined the first contest, named "Commander’s Race," of the “Clear Sky” event on August 26.
Seven commanders of the seven participating teams joined the competition, while the rest of team members supported their commanders during the contest. The Vietnamese five-member team finished the contest in the fifth place.
The "Commander’s Race" includes the following categories: shoulder-fired missile shooting, AK-12 shooting, and hurdle crossing. With great efforts, the Vietnamese contestants destroyed 2 out of 3 targets in the shoulder-fired missile category, shot down 5/6 targets in the AK-12 gun category, and excellently completed all remaining items.
Joining the Army Games for the first time, the “Clear Sky” team of Vietnam faces various difficulties, and the results of the team in the first day of competition were not as good as expected. The Vietnamese team still shows their strong determination to perform better in the remaining contents of the competition.
*After a day of postponement due to the weather, the “Military Medical Relay Race” event continued to take place on August 27 at the Forish training grounds in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
This was the “Individual skill” exercise of the “Military Medical Relay” contest for doctors and junior medical staff and armored vehicle drivers. The Vietnamese participating teams also complete in throwing grenades, disassembling guns, climbing over a two meter high wall for men and 1.5 meter wall for women, crossing barriers, and crawling under a BTR- 80 armored personnel carrier.
The number of teams participating in the “Military Medical Relay” contest in the Army Games 2020 is not large, but the Vietnamese team must compete with their strong peers from Russia, Uzbekistan and Belarus. The Vietnamese medical team has made great efforts and achieved good results compared to last year's event.
In the afternoon of the same day, a contest for ambulance drivers was also held at the Forish training grounds. The Typhoon-K MRAP vehicle is a kind of the armored truck. Although they had had no experience in driving this vehicle before, Vietnamese drivers tried hard to complete the content safely.
