Vietnam, Venezuela to boost defense cooperation
PANO – On May 29, at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, Major General Ngo Minh Tien, Deputy-Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, held a courtesy reception for the visiting delegation of the Venezuelan Strategic Operational Command led by Lieutenant General Omar Alexis Montes Meza, Chief of the Operations Department.
At the reception, Major General Ngo Minh Tien affirmed that the people of Vietnam always keep in mind the wholehearted support of the Venezuelan people during its struggle for national liberation and independence. He congratulated the Venezuelan people on the successful presidential election and believed that President Nicolas Maduro would continue leading the country to reap further bigger achievements.

The host stressed that the cooperation between the two militaries has been increasingly strengthened for the past years. Especially, in August 2017, the Venezuelan Defense Ministry sent a delegation of the Venezuelan Defense Institute to Vietnam and opened its Defense Attaché Office in Vietnam.
Highly valuing the results of the working sessions between the guests and a number of agencies of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, Major General Ngo Minh Tien proposed that in the coming time the two militaries would continue to effectively implement cooperation contents.
For his part, Lieutenant General Omar Alexis Mentes Meza thanked the host for the reception and said that the visit to Vietnam enabled his delegation members to learn from experience of the Vietnam People’s Army in military logistics and draw lessons learnt from the art of the people’s war of Vietnam.
The visit helped strengthen friendship and trust between the two peoples and the two militaries.
