Vietnam, RoK to boost defense cooperation
PANO - Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy-Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army hosted a reception for a delegation of the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea (RoK), led by Lee Hwang Kyu, head of the Personnel Plan Department, during its visit to Vietnam.
At the reception, Mr. Lee Hwang Kyu briefed the host on the functions and tasks of the Personnel Plan Department of the RoK’s Ministry of National Defense, as well as on the outcomes of the delegation’s earlier working session with the Vietnam Air Defense - Air Force Service and the Hanoi Capital Military Command. The two sides agreed to continue boosting cooperation, experience-sharing on training and education and delegation exchange.

On behalf of the leadership of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the General Department of Politics, General Can warmly welcomed the RoK defense delegation. He reaffirmed that the bilateral defense ties between Vietnam and the RoK have seen positive development over the past time. Recently, both sides established defense policy dialogues at a deputy minister level, delegation exchanges at all levels, and cooperation in dealing with war aftermath and UN peacekeeping operations.
The host also stressed the importance of the implementation of delegation exchange and annual mutual visits in a bid to help both sides’ troops learn more about the armies, and two cultures, contributing to enhancing friendship, cooperation, mutual understanding and trust between the two countries.
