On behalf of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense (MND), Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien congratulated the Lao Embassy’s staff on their great holiday. Gen. Chien sent congratulations to Laos on its significant achievements in the cause of building, protecting and developing the country over the past 49 years under the sound leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party; on successful performance of the role as Chair of ASEAN 2024.

The Vietnamese defense leader also expressed his hope that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos will be forever green and sustainable.
Gen. Chien emphasized that the Vietnam-Laos defense cooperation has constantly developed over the past time, affirming its role as one of the important pillars of the bilateral ties. In the time to come, defense cooperation activities between the two countries will be implemented according to the Protocol on defense cooperation for the 2025-2029 period and the signed cooperation plan for 2025.
He also hoped that Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh will continue to support, closely coordinate, and create conditions for relevant agencies of both sides to implement bilateral defense cooperation in a comprehensive and effective manner.

For her part, Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh thanked the Vietnamese defense delegation and affirmed that the Lao Party, State, Government, military and people are always grateful to the Party, State, Government, military and people of Vietnam for standing side by side with Laos in the past struggle for independence and national reunification and in the present cause of national construction, protection and growth; and thanked Vietnam for its support to Laos during its ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2024.
She spoke highly of the strong development in Vietnam-Laos great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation in all fields, including defense, affirming that she will try her best to well perform her role as an important bridge promoting Vietnam-Laos relations.
