At the meeting, Gen. San emphasized that the enhancement of the cooperation and sharing of experience in economic and financial management between the two defense ministries are important. He highly appreciated the two military financial departments’ close collaboration over the past time, particularly their joint efforts to make proposals to the two defense ministries’ leaders on ensuring budget for the two militaries’ activities, contributing to the two countries’ effective military-defense cooperation.

Informing the host of his freshly-ended working session with his Vietnamese counterpart Major General Luu Sy Quy, Maj. Gen. Bounxou Douangkhammy expressed thanks to the two defense ministries’ leaders for their due attention and direction to the two sides’ military financial sectors. He believed that the ties between the two departments in particular and the two militaries in general will be constantly tightened.

Given the outcomes of the aforementioned working session, Gen. San hoped that the two sides will further their close coordination with the focus on sharing experience, renovating and improving the quality of financial management, and raising efficiency of the advisory role to help guarantee financial supplies for activities.

Gen. San confirmed that the Vietnamese MND always supports and creates favorable conditions for the two departments to bolster their cooperation, helping deepen the defense ties of the two countries.

Earlier the same day, Maj. Gen. Luu Sy Quy, Director of the Financial Department under the Vietnamese MND, had a working session with his Lao counterpart Maj. Gen. Bounxou Douangkhammy, during which the two sides reviewed their cooperation over the past time and agreed on cooperation orientations in the time to come.

Accordingly, last year, the two sides ensured financial supplies for important activities, including the dissemination of information and education on the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, states, and militaries; the activities within the Vietnam - Laos Year of Friendship and Solidarity 2022; and the search, collection and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese volunteer troops and advisors who sacrificed their lives during different periods of the war in Laos.

On the basis of the cooperation plan 2023 between the two defense ministries, Gen. Quy suggested the two military financial sectors strengthen their cooperation in finance activities related to information dissemination, search and repatriation of remains of fallen troops, policies for Lao officers and cadets and Vietnamese cadets during their training in each country.

Both sides showed their high determination to complete the duties assigned by the two defense ministries.
