Vietnam and China hold talks on border work
PANO - On December 2, in Mengzi city, Honghe county, Yunnan province, China, delegations of the Dien Bien provincial Border Guard Command, led by its Deputy Commanding Officer Senior Colonel Pham Hong Giang and the China’s Mengzi Border Command, led by its Political Commissar Senior Colonel Tong Junlong, held talks on border work for the third time in 2024.
At the talks, both sides agreed that over the past time, the situation along the borderline has always been stable, while the solidarity and friendship between the two border protection forces, local authorities, and people has been ensured.
Especially, both sides have strictly implemented the contents of the three legal documents on the Vietnam-China land border, regularly coordinated in dissemination and education to raise awareness of the two countries’ people, worked together to implement border management and protection, organized joint patrols so as to ensure security and safety during the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - 2024), and organized the 2024 National Tourism Year in Dien Bien province and important events of the two countries.
In the coming time, they plan to seriously adhere to the “16-word” motto and the “four-good” spirit for developing the bilateral relations, inheriting the close friendship between leaders of the two Parties, States, and militaries.
They agreed to further exchange information in accordance with the Vietnam-China land border treaty, observe the construction of projects along the shared borderline, and make proposals to each side’s authorities to expand and build auxiliary facilities at the tri-border marker of Vietnam, Laos, and China to serve the upcoming 2025 Border Defense Friendship Exchange among the three countries.
