Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Head of the MND's Steering Committee on Vietnam's participation in the UNPKO chaired the opening ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Gen. Minh highly praised the great efforts of the VNDPKO in cooperation with its partner countries to effectively implement the project of Vietnam People Army’s participation in UN peacekeeping operations; especially the VNDPKO which has been selected as a site for peacekeeping training within the framework of the Triangular Partnership Project (TPP).

Gen. Minh affirmed the importance of this training course in improving Vietnam’s capability in organizing training courses and in gradually building a peace-keeping training establishment on par with those in regional countries, deserving to be the UN's selection to implement activities under the TPP for UN peacekeeping missions in the coming time.

Besides, the training course also contributed to strengthening the defense cooperation between Vietnam and the Netherlands in particular and the European Union countries in general, he noted.

The course from July 16 to August 3, is the seventh of its kind held in Vietnam, and the first course with many training contents and case management exercises. Accordingly, participants will be trained by Vietnam People’s Army instructors and foreign experts from the Netherlands, Austria, Canada, Germany, and Switzerland.
