The ship, together with a delegation of the Vietnam People’s Navy, led by Naval Captain Nguyen Quoc Quang, Second-in-Command of the Naval Region 3 Command, is on her way to Langkawi islands, Malaysia to take part in activities in the framework of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition in 2023 (LIMA 2023) such as naval vessel display, exhibition to introduce career opportunities in the Malaysian Navy, fleet review, LIMA exercises at sea.

The long journey is an opportunity for troops on board Ship 20 of Brigade 172, Naval Region 3 to practice training in designated conditions at sea.

Lieutenant Commander Dau Thanh Hao, Captain of Ship 20, noted that the training contents at sea included surface-to-air and naval combat, ship’s damage repairs, search and rescue, and anti-piracy.

The training was held in line with reality, in order to evaluate troops’ competence while raising troops’ physical strength. Besides, it also helped promote the capability of leadership, coordination and combat readiness while mastering equipment and weapons in long-term sea operation conditions.

After being assigned to the Vietnam People’s Navy, Ship 20 was modernized so as to promote its technical features and usage.

The main weapons of Ship 20 include two Oto Melara 76mm cannons; two 40mm Oto Breda cannons; six MK32 torpedo tubes; two MK9 submersible bomb rigs; and the MK33 jamming system.

The People’s Army Newspaper would like to introduce some images of troops and the delegation during its journey to Langkawi.
