Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and external affairs and diplomacy

During his glorious revolutionary career, comrade Nguyen Phu Trong paid due attention to the leadership and direction of external affairs and diplomacy associated with the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralization of external relations, active and pro-active international integration, for the interests of the nation, making important contribution to safeguarding national independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity and promoting the country’s development.

At the 32nd National Diplomatic Conference held on December 19, 2023, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong evaluated that since the 13th National Party Congress, external affairs and diplomatic activities have obtained significant achievements, becoming a highlight in the overall outcomes of the country. Therefore, never before has Vietnam enjoyed such a fortune, strength, international position and prestige as today. These great achievements are vivid evidence of the Party's sound foreign policy, associated with the close leadership and direction, as well as wise and timely decisions of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Attentively, the concept "Vietnamese bamboo" diplomacy was mentioned by comrade Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Conference on Foreign Affairs on December 14, 2021. The Party General Secretary summarized this concept on the basis of creatively applying the basic principles of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought, inheriting and promoting national identity and traditions, selectively absorbing the quintessence of the world and progressive ideas.

In remembrance of and tribute to the outstanding and highly respected leader of the Party, State, and people, the People's Army Newspaper introduces a number of images of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and leaders of partner countries, international friends, and neighboring countries during his time as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

On April 9, 2012, on behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong presents 5,000 tons of rice to the Party, State and people of Cuba.
