Gen. Quyet thanked Gen. Álvaro López Miera and the Cuban delegation for visiting Vietnam and participating in important activities of the VPA. Recalling the memories of his recent official visit to Cuba in October, he thanked Minister Álvaro López Miera and the Cuban Armed Forces for their warm welcome and hospitality towards the high-level political military delegation from Vietnam.
He sincerely shared the challenges faced by the Cuban people due to the ongoing embargo and the damage caused by consecutive natural disasters. He reaffirmed that the Party, State, people, and military of Vietnam always stands by Cuba's side and are ready to support it to the fullest extent possible.
The Vietnamese GDP’ Chief expressed appreciation for the support and assistance that Cuba extended to Vietnam during the wartime, emphasizing the enduring and special friendship between the two nations, especially in challenging times. He quoted the words of Cuban leader Fidel Castro, "For Vietnam, Cuba is ready to shed its blood," acknowledging the strong bond between the two countries.
He also highlighted the active and successful cooperation between the VPA's GDP and the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, particularly in such areas as Party and political work, and officer training. He expressed a desire for both sides to strengthen collaboration in the fields of military medicine, training, politics, ideology, and professional experience exchange, as well as the completion of the fourth and fifth volumes of the documentary series, titled "Two hearts beat as one."

On behalf of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, Sr. Lt. Gen. Álvaro López Miera congratulated all officers and soldiers of the VPA on the 80th anniversary of the VPA's foundation day and the 35th anniversary of the Whole-people Defense Festive Day. He strongly supported Vietnam's goal of building a standardized, elite, and modernized military by 2030 and expressed his belief that, with the VPA's efforts, this goal would soon become a reality.
Gen. Álvaro López Miera expressed his pleasure and deep impression during his visit to the Vietnam Military History Museum, where many exhibits showcase the heroic traditions and achievements of the VPA over the past 80 years.
He emphasized that the State visit to Cuba by Party General Secretary, then President To Lam and his spouse, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation was a testament to the sound traditional and special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.
Gen. Álvaro López Miera thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for inviting him and his delegation to the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024. He was confident that the event would become a model international exhibition for the defense industry.
