French naval ship visits Hai Phong city
PANO - On April 2, French Navy’s cruiser Prairial docked at Chua Ve Port, starting their courtesy visit to Hai Phong city from April 2 to 6.
Ship Prairial with 99 officers and sailors on board is led by Captain Francois Maignan. The ship has a length of 93.5m, a width of 14m, and a tonnage of 2.950 tons. This is the fourth time that the Prairial has visited Vietnam so far.
A welcoming ceremony was held on April 2 at the port, chaired by leader of the Department of External Relations of Hai Phong city. Leaders of Naval Region 1, Hai Phong city’s Military and Border Guard Commands, and Colonel Frédéric Daumas, French Attaché to Vietnam, also attended the ceremony.
During their stay, the French naval force will pay courtesy visits on leaders of the Hai Phong city People’s Committee, and the Naval Region 1 Command. Besides, the French naval ship will have a joint exercise with the Vietnam People’s Navy, take part in cultural and sports exchange, and visit historical relic sites in Hai Phong city.
Over the past time, the Vietnam - France defense cooperation has been enhanced with remarkable outcomes. The visit contributes to promoting cooperation between the two navies in particular, and the bilateral defense cooperation in general, while celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam - France diplomatic ties (1973 - 2023) and the ten years of their Strategic Partnership (2013-2023).
Here are some photos of the ceremony.
